Professional Background
Albert Douer is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UBQ Materials, a global manufacturing company that transforms mixed household waste, including organics and hard-to-recycle materials, into UBQ™, a bio-based thermoplastic composite. Under his leadership, UBQ Materials is turning waste into a valuable resource, advancing the circular economy, and helping preserve our planet’s natural resources.
Prior to his role at UBQ Materials, Douer served as the Executive Chairman of Darnel Group, where he played a pivotal role in transforming the company from a single small plant in Colombia to a multinational entity operating across the Americas and Europe. His strategic vision led to significant expansions, including the establishment of manufacturing plants in Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil, Spain, and Turkey, and growing the workforce from 80 to over 5,000 employees.
In addition to leading UBQ Materials, he is a board member of Daika Wood, a company turning wood waste back into virgin wood, saving forests and natural habitats, and Biotic, an early startup developing natural polymers to replace plastic in food packaging.
Beyond his corporate roles, Albert is actively involved in supporting high-impact entrepreneurs. He serves as a board member of Endeavor, a global organization that mentors innovators, and is a venture partner at Matterscale Ventures, where he leverages his industry knowledge to guide emerging businesses. Albert’s commitment to sustainability and innovation continues to drive UBQ Materials’ mission to provide climate-positive solutions and advance global environmental objectives.
