Connie Hedegaard is a Danish politician and public intellectual who served as the European Commissioner for Climate Action in the European Commission from 2010-2014. During her tenure, she focused on making climate protection a part of every policy. She successfully negotiated the adoption of the EU 2030 Climate and Energy Framework which coordinates policy objectives between all EU countries. As Denmark’s Minister for Climate and Energy, Hedegaard oversaw the United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2009.
She holds an MA degree in History and Literature from the University of Copenhagen.
